Deccan Herald reports:
A major data breach in the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board’s (BWSSB) application portal for water connection has exposed over 2.90 lakh customer records. The access to these records, including PAN, Aadhaar numbers, payment data and mobile numbers, was put on sale on an underground data leaks forum on the internet for $500 (approximately Rs 42,517).
The findings were based on a probe by CloudSEK, a Bengaluru-based cybersecurity firm. A probe report compiled by security researcher with the firm, Sourajeet Majumder, was shared exclusively with DH.

The breach had been discovered by CloudSEK on April 10, when they spotted a listing on the hacking forum called BreachForums. The listing was by a forum user named pirates_gold. But days later, BreachForums went offline. A notice on the home page now says it will return, but whether the listing will also reappear at some later date on that forum or has been listed elsewhere is unknown at this time.
Additional details of the breach were reported by 420.in.
