There is another update to Rhode Island’s incident response to a cyberattack last year that involved their vendor, Deloitte. Data from the state’s portal called RIBridges was acquired and leaked by threat actors when their ransom demands were not paid. Now WPRI reports:

An outside consulting group will provide Rhode Island with millions in funding to help pay for expenses related to the RIBridges data breach, Gov. Dan McKee’s office announced on Tuesday.

Deloitte, the private company the state has paid to develop and maintain RIBridges, will provide $5 million to the state. Target 12 asked for a copy of the underlying agreement following the governor’s announcement.

[…] McKee’s office said the $5 million payment will help support costs associated with the approximately 2,000 HealthSource RI customers who were enrolled directly in coverage for January and February.

Separately, Deloitte will also cover the cost of the data breach call center, credit monitoring, and identity protection for impacted customers, according to McKee’s office. The personal data of more than 650,000 Rhode Islanders may have been compromised.
